MahaRERA Extends Project Completion Deadlines by Four Months Due to Force Majeure.

Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) has extended the completion timelines of eligible real estate projects by four months under the force majeure provision, providing significant relief to developers affected by global supply chain disruptions caused by the ongoing West Asia conflict. The decision follows a July 31 advisory from the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs directing all state RERAs to grant such extensions. The automatic extension applies to projects whose original, revised, or previously extended completion dates fall on or after February 28, 2026. Projects registered on or after August 1, 2026, are not eligible. MahaRERA clarified that promoters do not need to submit separate applications, as the Registration and IT Cell will update project records automatically on the MahaRERA portal. Industry bodies, including NAREDCO Maharashtra, welcomed the move, stating it recognises genuine construction challenges while providing developers and homebuyers with greater clarity, transparency, and regulatory certainty.
