Faster hearings, stronger accountability, and renewed confidence for homebuyers.

MahaRERA Sets Record with 137% Complaint Disposal Rate in 2025

The Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) achieved a significant milestone in 2025 by resolving 6,045 homebuyer complaints against 5,073 new filings, resulting in a record-breaking disposal rate of 137%. This marks a notable improvement compared to its early years, when disposal rates ranged between 50% and 70%. The regulator has prioritised clearing long-standing cases while ensuring quick action on new complaints, with hearings usually initiated within a couple of months of registration. Established in May 2017, MahaRERA has substantially strengthened its grievance redressal mechanism over the past two years. Between 2024 and 2025, it disposed of 13,003 complaints against 10,235 filings, pushing the overall resolution rate to 127%. The authority emphasised that homebuyers invest their lifetime savings in housing, and issues such as delayed possession, poor construction quality, or missing amenities must be addressed promptly. This enhanced efficiency demonstrates MahaRERA’s increasing commitment to protecting homebuyer interests and improving transparency in Maharashtra’s real estate sector.
